Lindsey + Kenji's Almost-Rain-Free Hilo Wedding

Shooting a wedding in Hawaii is one of those ultimate photographer dreams. Tropical breezes, palm trees, lush green backgrounds everywhere. And Lindsey and Kenji are the kind of couple you get excited to photograph. They’re fun, light-hearted and – let’s be honest – easy on the eyes.

On top of everything else, they’re simply two of the most kind and loving people you’ll meet. And they’re cute together. After years together, they joke and hug and shoot playful glances across the room like a brand new, excited couple.

The other thing about these two is that they surround themselves with equally fun, extremely decent people who all love the crap out of them. Almost everyone showed up a day early to visit, arrange flowers, set up the venue, and just be together on the family farm.

Two things about Hilo:

1. It’s gorgeously lush and green everywhere, with patches of moss overtaking the road in places.
2. It rains every day – sometimes pouring suddenly out of nowhere.

Lindsey and Kenji, ever positive and laid-back, didn’t mind possible. So we got her dressed and ready to go...

Then he saw her.

By the time we all made it over to the ceremony, the rains had held off...

And held off...

About half-way through, the sky sent a few “warning” droplets and we knew... it was going to rain soon.

Lo and behold, the INSTANT everyone made it into the shelter...

...like a switch the rains poured down. A good omen on your wedding day, they say. And an inevitability in Hilo.
